after watching the big bang on e4 and telling my gf i'm not a geek but a nerd and she asks what the difference?
so what is the difference?
i always thought a geek was a smart person with no idea how to survive out of a class room or lab. someone like the 3 computers geeks out of the simpsons who handed their wallents over for an inspection. if you no the one i'm talking about.

and nerds were, well people who played with toy solders read comics watched cartoon films manga that sort of thing.
what are your definations?

As far as I see.... based on others perceptions and what people shouted into the gw store......

Nerd = Somebody obsessed with computer/computer games

Geek = wargamer, star trek/wars etc

You are what you make of it. We know what we are. It's peoples perception really. If people have those opinions it's just showing there own insecurities that they have to mock somebody else, or they are not old enough yet not to give a damn what other people think of there hobbies. I'm big enough and ugly enough to know what I like to do with my spare time. Thats my excuse and I'm sticking to it Very Happy

Nerd sweets were ace. Dweebs were also the same and nice.

Hi Pat

Well Steve has joined the RAF and currently on week 3 of recruit training. so we won't see him very often now. Maybe at GT. I have been "busy" real life commitments have taken the reigns over toy soldiers (which of course is wrong as we all know Rolling Eyes ). Hope to be down the club some time soon. Most evil plans have been a failure unfortunately Sad

Good to hear from you Chris, your missing out on loads!

As for geek or nerd, I put neither.

Yes there are some sad people in the hobby that look like they have not had a bath for a year and talk like they are 10 when they are in fact 20+ but this is not a true representation on all in the hobby.

No matter what hobby, interest you will allways have halfwits.

I personnaly think being sad is having nothing in your life.

I have loads of friends, been out with plenty of fit birds, a good job, traveld around, yep i'm a nerd alright Wink

P.S Peter Jackson from lord of the rings is a wargamer, i'd like to see someone call him a nerd/ geek to his face lol

Definitely a geek. Geeks rock. Nerds are way not cool.

Looks like the vote's split 50/50. Hey geeks wanna wait for the nerds after work and do them over?
