About a year ago I worked on an old Poste Militaire sculpt. (Unfortunately the wip pics are no longer up, but if I ever manage to sort out a proper web site I'll get them back up). Well, while doing the samurai accessories I found that the Poste Militaire sculpts were back in production so I got myself the Timurid Emir which was done by Julian Hullis back in 1991 I think.

And now it's time to get it done. I'll be heading down the west country (Somerset) at the end of November and I'm hoping to take it to the Bath and Bristol show while I'm there. Mind it's taken me a bit of an effort to get started, I keep thinking of all these cool 30 mil pieces I have Smile

Here's a pic of the undercoated main body on the base and a pic of my plans for the base. The idea is that he will be on a tiled floor somewhere at Smakrand, so lots of geometric design ans arabesque lettering on the floor and carpet.

I was worried that the size of the base would drown the figure. So I've decided to get a smaller round plinth so I can put a nice label on it saying "Timurid Emir at Samarkrand" and stopping the carpet a little short of the front so I don't have to worry about dealing with the carpet at the edge.

Timurid source pictures
I tracked these down from wikipedia

And these should be the attachments

Well I was going to add some stuff about role playing here, but I've been far too busy with my 90 mil Timurid and the Role Playing to actually write anything up. So I may have soe time next week.

till then some more pics of the Timurid Smile

Not a painting post this time, but something related.

When trying to take pics of my Timurid after fixing it to the base it soon became apparant that my old light tent was going to be woefully inadiquate. I could hardly fit the figure in let alone get decent pics. Anyway, turns oout you can get a rather nice light tent / portable studion from Maplin. think it's meant to be twenty quid, but seems to be on offer and I picked it up for a tenner.

However, the pics I originally took were a little overexposed as the background sheet that came with it was darker than I used to use and my camera adjusted it's exposure time. Still easilly sorted so I expect I'll get some more pics up soon.

Till then here's a couple of example of what it look like when the colours aren't washed out.

And I ereally will do a post about RPG's later
Honest . . . .

You can still get them. Just that the original company ceased trading when the founder died. It should be the top one obf this section (Sculpted by Julian Hullis) but it doesn't seem to have a price associated.

about £30 - £40 i reckon for this kit.

Sam if you want to try something large scale i reccomend a 54mm, there abit cheaper and the range is huge.

Take a peek at Andrea miniatures, youll find some fantastic minis on there that will more then take your fancy.

Look in series general, some interesting stuff in there.

If you are only getting 1 or 2 pieces it may be worth ordering from Historex
Not the cheapest but they do have a very good range
