These army diaries are a good ida hope they will drum up some motivation!
My aim for this diary is not only to motivate me but hopefully others. This diary will be full of pictures, my personal opinions and tutorials on how I did stuff if people are interested to know as I always try new things and I go through phases of painting!
Currently im in the old skool Mike Mcvey phase. How I describe it I basecoat flat colour I then put in the shading then highlight. Its strange because I always strt off dark then work my way up from there.
Anyway enough randomness from my mind. On with the diary wooooo!
So It Begins
Well this dark Halloween morning I was wracking my brain to decide what army to do. It had to be Warhammer as I havnt painted anything serious for it since my wood elves.
It seems some members are doing duel army diarys. I cant really as I dont have the time at the moment but do expect my wonderful readers that random one off figures will appear!
Looking through the army books I was inspired by the goody goody races. Im a strange one as I like elves (oi I can hear you yelling pansy!)
So elves of the high kind seemed a good choice.
I painted a single high elf hero ages ago because I thought it was an awesome model so I hope to fit this guy in my army!
After many strange looks from Chris and laughing at me when ever I turned around I ignored him and started building a spear elf.
Having not got the book yet and only reading scattered internet rumors from the various "friendly" forums out there I thought a unit of spearmen was a safe bet to start on!
High Elves and the painting time rift
Well high elves are actualy very quick to paint. It only took me 3 hours to get this far in "steve painting time" this engages when im painting, hours flyby with very little progress im sure there is a rift in space and time in my painting room!
Ugh my painting area.
What a mess!
My High elf WIP
HAHA suckers I always strike first!
My choice of colours.
Well there was always going to be white on a high elf. The GW foundation paint astronomicon grey was a total lifesaver here! one coat then 2-3 thin coats of white on top.
Im not sure if there is too much silver on the elf there is a shield to go (probably white with a gold design.
Rim colours. I didnt want to paint my elves like on the boxes so I searched through my paints for a original colour. Wow did I find it ladies and gentlemen I present to you scaly green one of them underated colours that is secretly great! (well in my opinion anyway)
Skin is my normal Recipe. If anyone wants to know how I can explain.
Well thats enough for now!
Tune in again soon for a finished pansy elf and my comments on the high elf figures!
