Metallic Blue Paint???

Postby Dan on Sun Dec 23, 2007 5:47 am

Are there any manufacturers of met. blue that are any good? If so wheres the best place to buy it? I thought Coat d'arms supplied it, but it appears not.

not sure whether it's what you're after but Langleys do several metallics (inc blue) in a small spray can format....

Jill's got the flu which means she's spluttering and coughing all night. The sofa is my only solace!

Nope ... guess i thought that if you wanted to cover a large area (maybe you were doing a Farty K tank  ) you could spray it as a base coat and then paint over it on the areas not wanted met blue?

Yopu could just go with gun metal / mithril silver. Then apply a couple of thin layers of blue before re-applying silver highlights. Bit like the metallic article of Sebs I posted a link to. Except instead of using lots of layers and tones for shading you should just need to add a couple of get a blue tinge before tweaking the edges with some pure mithril silver to put the highlights back.

i have usede metalic blue before. i mixed it myself, works really well. i used it for some grey nights. base coat of 1:1:1 mix of fenris grey, boltgun and painter's medium/matt varnish. then add mithril to that for highlighting. instead of water add the painter's medium/matt varnish. its much better for metalics. u can pic up painter's medium at whsmiths. ill do a 'how to do it' soon
