I've just been trying to make my 2250pts list for the upcoming aftermath league (then taking away 750pts to leave the core 1500pts that has to be submitted and not changed)
GRRRR!!!! is all I can say! I thought the same thing when making a list for Storm in the East last year, that extra 250pts just seems so pointless, like your chucking in units just for the sake of it. The synergy or armies at 2k feels right, at 2250 it just feels like an army and a few extra needless bits.... unless of course you beef up your charcter slots.
What does everyone think? Or do you have to build a 2250pts list without your usual 2000pt list in mind? Maybe where Im going wrong.

I prefer 2250. I like the freedom to squeeze in just that little bit more which was always missing from 2000. I've always found that at 2000 there's always something that has to be sacrificed when i'm building my list, be that an extra small unit, a bit of magic gubbins etc.
I feel that 2250 allows you to have the army you want without significantly upping the power level of the game (i.e. 3000 means extra wizies, more Lord characters etc)
I find the opposite to Dan...i hate having to take things out rather than putting things in!

Especially if you are using an elite army, it does give you some nice extra troops.!!!

I have always done armys to the nearest 1000 for WFB.
Yes the extra points give you extra stuff and like Pat, i like having enough points to field everything (hence the 14000 odd point guard list im doing).
But there just seems to be that little bit more elegance for me. Creating a nicely balanced, perfect list at the minimum points that you are allowed a lord. No mess, no fuss, use your points wisely.
It just seems alot nicer from my point of veiw.

I'll let you know after I lose to Adam tomorrow night.
I've tried (and failed) to design army lists in blocks of 500 ot 750 points but have found this to be rather tricky - as with the forthcoming league, my "real" core is going to be the published 1,500 points plus a few hundred more points that will always be spent (adding banners to units and increasing detachments, etc.). The trouble is that this then restricts the flexibility that the extra 750 points should should be giving me.
That's my excuse anyway ... _________________ Emrys

I warmed to the idea of 2250 because, after several years of always aiming for 2000, the extra "bit" meant that I could use some different stuff.
But I'm not really fussed either way. Happy to go for any points total as long as everyone else plays along. The dynamics of 1000, 1500, 1999, 2000, 2250 and 2500 all offer different experiences.
As to your original question Dan - I do tend to design a 2250 list from scratch, rather than taking a 2000 one and trying to add-on.

looks like it is swinging in the favour of 2K.
