A Tale of Stunties & Robots (and stuff!!)

Postby Pat Thompson on Tue Oct 30, 2007 10:25 am

I said i'd start one of these and plot the progress of my 2 projects at the mo...they are Dwarfs for Warhammer Fantasy and Khador for Warmachine. I've also got an undead Mordheim warband on the back burner for the long anticipated Aftermath Mordheim campaign and a few ideas in the back ground for Infinity and also some historical Crusades stuff (i'm reading a trilogy by Robyn Young which is set in the aftermath of the Crusades - very good so far!)

Anyways, as is traditional in these i shall start with a picture of my work space and the projects as they are at the moment!

Unfotunately this isn't it as there are several other boxes stashed away...but this will hopefully keep me going for the moment!

And as i've had a few days off i've made a start on the Dwarfs.
I've made a start on the General's shield bearers which i hope to finish later today (though i have to go and make scary pumpkin faces too to scare the local hoodies from coming to my house tomorrow! :twisted: )

Cork indeed....just wanted the general to be a little highter than simply on a shield.....and the plastic flying stand looks naff on its own.

Hopefully manage to do a bit more tonight...(if i scrub the soppyness off the tile so i can see the paints properly!)

I am aslo likeing the dwarves you have done
roughly how long does it take you to do a guy?

That painting table is also far to clean and tidy, do you really use it or is it just for show? :D

looking forward to reading more soon.

p.s. Congratulations for becoming a Mod (don't get drunk on the power, stick to beer)

I'm off on Weds & Thurs this week so i'm planning to make a start on the Lord's Hammerer unit and alos start a little of the Khador.

Unfortunately my will power got the best of me and i now have some Hordes Circle of Orboros on order which will make an appearance in the diary soon!

You can always tell a true hobbist as they always buy at LEAST 1 more force before they finish the one they are doing.

Looking forward to seeing a finished regiment as the boss looks ace.

Are you going to keep the rock base theme through the entire army?

Have dismally failed to make a start on the Hammerers today, mainly because this guy has taken a lot of time. It is the first time i've ever tried anything resembling "wear & tear" or "weathering". I'm reasonably pleased so far. He's not finished yet, next days off are Mon & Tues next week so i'm hoping to finish him off then.
If anyone's got any hints on weathering it'd be appreciated.
For those who aren't familiar with Warmachine, the Khador force is based ona Soviet style with red being the predominant colour. I didn't really want to do this as i envisage these guys trudging through snow covered forests and mountains and i wanted to go for a much more muted scheme.

Remember, he's not finished!!! :D

Pat i can honestly say this is looking like one of your best!!!

Nice attention to groundwork and the rust efect is looking really good.

Ole Prawn power is the one to talk to about weathering effects, I think there is a post still in the how to section about this topic.

A small update as the last few days have been hectic at work. I've finished the Kodiak but haven't gotten around to photographing it.

I'm experimenting a bit with bases and picked up some "water effect" yesterday. The idea on the next pic is to have a river running through a small ravine. The instructions state that the water effect will dry clear in about 24 hrs. The 2nd picture shows the plan of having the Khador Beserker in the process of stepping over the river.

The base in progress;

The idea (far from finished :oops: )

and just to show some progress - heres a very early shot of Kommander Sorscha;

Hopefully more tomorrow!
